Sending a message

Sending a message

Here you can read how to send a message to your healthcare provider.

Alert
Important before you start:
Can't see the button to send a message? This means your GP practice has (temporarily) disabled this feature. You will not be able to start a new message or reply online.

Not a chat or WhatsApp: An online message is an official medical consultation. Do you want to know exactly how this works or do you have another question? Please check the Help with messages page.

Steps to send a message

Would you like to send a new message? Follow these steps:
1. Click on the + Message button in the top right corner.

2. Choose the healthcare provider you want to send the message to (for example, the GP or the assistant).
3. Fill in the subject.
4. Type your message.

5. Would you like to include an attachment (such as a photo or document)?
  1. Below your message, click on the box that says: "Drag your files here, or you can add them here". You can also drag and drop your files directly into this box.
  2. Select the file you wish to add.
  3. Good to know: You can add a maximum of 4 files (each up to 10MB). We support the following file types: .doc, .docx, .pdf, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .tiff and .tif.
  1. Checking or removing an attachment? Click on the three dots next to the added file. You can then choose Preview (to view the file), Download, or Delete (to remove the file).

6. Click on the Send message button.

Check and confirm

A new window will open where you can read your entire message one more time.
  1. Is everything correct? Click on the Confirm button.
  2. Do you want to change something? Click on Cancel. You can then change your text. After that, click Confirm to send it.

You will automatically return to the message screen. You will see your new message in the list straight away. At the bottom of the screen, a notification saying “Message has been sent” will also appear for a few seconds.

Viewing or downloading an attachment in your sent message
Did you include an attachment with your message? In the overview screen, you will see the attachment listed with your message. If you click on the three dots next to the attachment, you will have the following options:
  1. Preview: The attachment will open directly on your screen, allowing you to review the document again.
  2. Download: The attachment will be saved to your device (computer, tablet, or phone).
Info
Good to know:
You might notice that the file name looks a bit unusual in this overview, for example, showing a double extension like photo.jpg.jpg or document.pdf.pdf.
This is a known issue in our system that we are currently working to resolve.
Please rest assured that your file has been sent correctly and your healthcare provider can open it without any problems.
